Funding will Expand Health-based Degree Apprenticeships

The Office for Students (OfS) funding will allow the ºüÀêÊÓƵ to increase opportunities for people to study for a level 6 apprenticeship and to graduate to success in their chosen health, adult social care or allied health career.

Described in its recent Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) report as “an engine of opportunity – supporting its students to benefit from an educational experience that is personally transformative and allows them to succeed in their chosen career”, the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester is one of the Country’s leading and largest educators of health professionals.

Working alongside employers, including the NHS, the ºüÀêÊÓƵ has embraced nursing and allied health apprenticeships. Worcester’s apprenticeship courses are enabling individuals to overcome economic and social barriers to secure entry into health care professions, while meeting local, regional, and national employer needs.

Professor David Green CBE DL, the ºüÀêÊÓƵ’s Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from the OfS to further develop our level 6 degree apprenticeships in health. These ºüÀêÊÓƵ degree apprenticeships will increasingly form a vital component of the education and training of the nation’s health workforce. We hope to encourage even more people to make the best of their own potential and start their journey to a rewarding and truly purposeful career.”
