The ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester’s Women’s Football Team is preparing for a crucial match that could secure them a spot in the final of a prestigious competition.
Captain Annie Sime says morale is high ahead of the game
A victory against the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Birmingham on Wednesday, February 19, would mark their first ever-appearance in the final of the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Cup Competition.
Annie Sime, Captain of Worcester, said: “We’ve been training hard for the match to ensure we’re fully prepared. The quarterfinal was a great experience which brought us all closer as a group.”
She added: “We’re hoping to use this to build our momentum, morale is high, and everyone is motivated to give their best performance.”
The ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester is launching a brand-new degree in Football Performance and Coaching in September this year.
Mike Harris, Head Coach, said: “We have massive ambitions for the women’s football programme at the ºüÀêÊÓƵ, so to see so much early success has been really exciting.”
He continued: “For them to reach the final would show that they’re a really serious group, that they’re so passionate about football and they’ve worked so hard.”
He added: “The team has gained so much confidence from coming so far already, and a win would reinforce all of the positivity and the good they’ve been doing.”
Mike said: “Birmingham are a good side; we’ve beaten them in the league this season so they’ll be coming to try and cause a bit of an upset on Wednesday.”
