Melody began her career as a nurse at the Royal London Hospital, working in critical care, clinical research and community nursing. Melody has also worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, leading partnership working across the disciplines in health and social care as an NHS manager in Bristol and has worked for the Department of Health following the recommendations for the Francis Inquiry Report on compassion and nursing recruitment.

Having completed undergraduate studies at UWE, Bristol and a Master’s in social research at the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Cardiff in Wales, Melody moved into nurse education in 2013 as Senior Lecturer (Primary Care) at UWE, Bristol where she completed her PhD studying the notions of altruism and vocation in nursing in 2009. Published work form this research has received multiple citations.

Melody has held roles as Course Lead, Head of Department, Associate/Deputy Head of School and has led Curriculum development and course review in the UK and Victoria, Australia.

Melody joined the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester in 2016 after a period working in Australia as Associate Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe ºüÀêÊÓƵ in Melbourne, Melody continues her research collaborations with colleagues in Australia.

Melody is a ceramic artist and recently completed an MA in contemporary craft which has supported her interest in research of the arts for health and wellbeing including the use of visual methodologies.

Melody is an experienced supervisor and examiner of PhDs and currently works as an Associate Lecturer at the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester and is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Three Counties School of Nursing and
