I have worked in the NHS for 30 years, initially in cardiothoracic ITU where I spent 18 happy years. I then moved into general practice nursing, completing my MSc in advancing practice worked as an advanced clinical practitioner.

More recently I worked for NHS England as their regional general practice nursing fellow within the workforce and transformation directorate (Formally HEE) concentrating on student placement and increasing the understanding of the complexity of nursing roles within general practice and promoting it as a first destination career. During this time, I completed my PGCE in medical and healthcare education.

I then moved into an education and training lead role for Hereford and Worcester training hub, who provide multi professional education programmes for primary care staff, this confirmed my passion for education, working across professions, was an invaluable experience.

I find great fulfilment in teaching, mentoring and guiding future nurses, assisting them in developing skills and qualities in the field of nursing. Believing in our future workforce, showing compassion, and sharing my experiences to enhance learning will hopefully enrich the student learning experiences.

Teaching Interests

I have a keen interest in cardiovascular disease and health promotion, and chronic disease management from my previous roles.

Also, whilst working as an ACP in general practice acute book on the day patient presentations, using my health assessment and prescribing skills, to manage acute onset illness within general practice.

I will be teaching on FDNA 1201, FDNA 2201, FDNA 2002 and NDA 1006.

Research Interests

My research interest lay within general practice as there is less research around nursing within this environment. I wrote my MSc dissertation on the barriers to nursing associates within the general practice nursing workforce.
