Louise joined the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Worcester as a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing in 2015. Prior to this she held clinical posts in medical, surgical and community nursing, enjoying over 20 years caring for patients and their families. With a passion for teaching and supporting others, Louise also worked as a Practice Facilitator, advocating for students and mentors/practice assessors alike.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Louise serves as the Student Progression Lead (SPL) for Level 4 students. In this capacity, she plays an important role in supporting individual students as they navigate their journey through Year 1 of the Nursing Programme. She acts as the primary point of contact for students encountering challenges to their progression, ensuring that every student receives the guidance and assistance needed to achieve academically and professionally.

With a firm commitment to fostering student success and facilitating their growth as compassionate and competent healthcare professionals, Louise Carter embodies the spirit of excellence and dedication within the field of adult nursing education.

Teaching Interests

Louise leads and teaches on modules across the BSc (Hons) Nursing programme and the Healthcare Foundation Year.

  • Sensory Impairment and communication skills
  • Tissue viability and wound management
  • Leg ulcer management

Research Interests

Louise’s research interests encompass a range of areas of inquiry, including:

  • Sensory impairment and effective communication
  • The care of individuals with dementia and the experiences of family caregivers
  • Palliative care for those with long-term conditions
  • The implementation of an electronic practice assessment document for Student Nurses
